Mentor of the Year Finalist

Mentor of the Year 200x189

Exciting news from Sue…

I’m humbled and also very proud to be a finalist for Mentor of the Year in the Women in Finance Awards 2018.

I’m the company owner of Quality Financial Group which is solely owned and operated by myself and has mortgage brokers who are independent contractors, all of whom started as new to industry brokers under my mentorship. I offer a high touch full service mentoring model for brokers in QFG and also outside of QFG and Connective Aggregation Services.

My key leadership and mentoring values are based on a foundation of honesty, integrity and trust. This is supported by habits of excellence which are nurtured by a mutual respect for each other and are translated into my business processes. These values are also reflected in the mentee application form in conjunction with a questionnaire on how coachable the mentee is. Therefore, from the outset I attract the people with the same values to work along side me.

As an experienced broker I completed the “Train the Mentor” course in 2012 which was provided by the MFAA. A demanding 5 day “live-in” course which upskilled me on how to manage people behaviours and also taught me how to run successful workshops. As a qualified trainer and NLP practitioner I started mentoring brokers in 2012.

To assist new brokers into the industry in a helpful and compliant way I authored my own mentoring programme which is approved Australia wide by the MFAA & FBAA. I mentor brokers Australia wide, however, I have recently chosen to specialise in Melbourne with 2 different aggregators.

In 2016 I attended the The Adviser Study Tour in London to learn about the UK broker and banking market with regards to compliance, risk management and surviving during regulation changes. I have incorporated all the information into my business procedures and share everything learnt with all brokers I mentor empowering them to further understand why the customer needs mortgage protection and also to reduce risks in their individual businesses.

Broking can be a lonely experience and to overcome this I created a community feeling by hosting monthly group workshops with many lender BDMs and industry related presenters.

I’ve developed “Business in a Box” for my QFG mentees in the Connective Mercury software which is unique in the market and is mapped with compliance. This empowers the broker to work autonomously and has an excellent customer service outcome supported by our foundation of values.

I’m always open to suggestions and any inspiring ideas from industry peers – please feel free to contact me anytime for a chat. And if you want to become a mortgage broker – you are welcome to contact me anytime.
